Job Description:
 
Our client, a respected woman & veteran-owned CPA firm, is seeking an experienced Remote Tax Manager to join their team. This full-time, year-round role focuses on the review and preparation of complex individual and fiduciary income tax returns, supervising junior staff, tax notice analysis, and delivering client-facing tax planning consultations.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Review complex individual income tax returns and communicate directly with clients.
  • Review fiduciary income tax returns and coordinate with clients.
  • Prepare small business (Schedule C) tax returns.
  • Prepare individual and fiduciary income tax returns as needed.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior tax preparers.
  • Analyze tax notices and prepare clear, timely responses.
  • Provide income tax projections and personalized individual tax planning.

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA license or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience with individual, fiduciary, or business tax preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Comfortable learning new software and adapting to evolving systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional demeanor with proven client service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required Technical Expertise:

  • Multi-state returns, part-year and non-resident filing.
  • Mortgage interest limitation calculations.
  • K-1s with multi-state composite and PTE credits.
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (IRAs).
  • Deep understanding of IRA basis (Form 8606).
  • Rental properties: preparation, sales, depreciation, 1031 exchanges.
  • Stock basis calculation and estimation.
  • US Obligations income; state vs. federal tax-exempt income.
  • Non-statutory stock option income reporting.
  • Roth IRA distribution penalty exclusions.
