Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team.
  • CPA or equivalent certification (EA, LLM/JD in tax a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency with tax software (e.g., Corvee, Planner CS, UltraTax).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships.

 
What You’ll Do:

  • Tax Advisory Services:
    • Analyze tax implications of various business and investment decisions.
    • Provide clients with comprehensive financial health assessment reports.
    • Prepare and present tailored tax plans
    • Advise on tax-efficient strategies, including income deferral, wealth transfer, and retirement optimization.
    • Host quarterly advisory meetings, guiding clients in key tax decisions regarding business structure, investments, and more.
  • Tax Research:
    • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local tax codes to client situations.
    • Use tax research software to retrieve information efficiently and investigate complex tax transactions.
    • Draft detailed research memos to support tax positions and consult with external experts as needed.
  • Tax Return Services:
    • Prepare a variety of tax returns, including business, personal, estate, trust, and gift tax.
    • Ensure all returns meet compliance and submission deadlines, making sure workpapers are accurate and organized.
    • Review tax returns prepared by other team members for accuracy and compliance.
  • Financial Statements Review & Analysis:
    • Review client-provided income statements and balance sheets to ensure accuracy for tax filing.
    • Identify discrepancies, request missing documentation, and help clients optimize their tax filings.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Maintain regular communication with clients, addressing their concerns and proactively providing updates on tax-saving opportunities.
    • Ensure exceptional service delivery, proactively managing client relationships and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Internal Team Coordination:
    • Share tax-related insights with colleagues and collaborate across departments to ensure seamless service.
    • Help develop and implement firm-wide tax policies and procedures.
  • Staff Supervision & Mentorship:
    • Mentor junior staff, delegate tasks, and provide feedback for continuous growth.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that promotes professional development within the team.
  • Quality Control & Risk Management:
    • Oversee the quality control of tax preparation to ensure compliance with reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
    • Implement internal controls to protect sensitive client information and ensure tax compliance.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify opportunities to upsell services to existing clients and work with the sales team for follow-through.
    • Collaborate on marketing initiatives to generate leads and increase visibility for the firm.
    • Track business development success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with tax law changes and developments through continuous learning.
    • Participate in professional organizations and networking opportunities to expand your knowledge and connections.
    • Maintain active CPA licensure and comply with CPE requirements.
